Saint Martin is the patron saint of the Diocese of Burgenland (Austria). A volume of studies was published in the scientific journal of the Burgenland Provincial Library, Burgenlandische Forschungen 107. The book, which contains contributions from the Kismarton (Eisenstadt) Archives and from researchers of the diocese, which is preparing to celebrate the 1700th anniversary of the saint's birth, summarises the history of the life and cult of Saint Martin, describes the churches of the diocese of the former counties of Vas, Moson and Sopron, which were named after Saint Martin, and deals with the traditions and folk customs of the veneration of Saint Martin in the easternmost province of Austria. The title page of the book features a relief of the entrance to the parish church of St. Martin in Sopronszentmárton (Markt St. Martin).
