Stop point- Horváthzsidány - Persuka Mária Memorial

Since 1983, the Chapel of Mary of Peru has welcomed visitors as a trilingual pilgrimage site. In 1994, a small chapel was built near the oak tree in honour of St. Hubert and Our Lady, with donations from the faithful, and surrounded by the cool trees of the forest and a beautiful park of statues of the patron saints of the crafts.

Captain's Well

On the left side of the road leading to the chapel of Mary Péruska and Marton's hut, take the path to the left after the picture tree and then the forest path to the Kapitány spring. The spring is surrounded by an archway, and the crystal clear water is in a depression, or "well", under the archway.

280-year-old oak tree in the Péruska memorial

The stalkless oak and its legend have inspired many local and area amateur painters, artists and photographers; it has inspired many works of art and even poems.
Age: about 280 years
Height: 20-25 m
Trunk girth: 500 cm.

Programmes:

St. Ivan's Night, also known as Midsummer Night, is the night from 23 to 24 June in Hungary. The people of Croatia always celebrate St. Ivan's Day
It is the Friday before the Sunday of their St. Valentine's Day farewell when they make a pilgrimage to the Péruska Chapel to commemorate the day.

In 1983, after the turbulent years of the 20th century, it was possible for the first time to restore the Péruska Shrine of Mary to its former splendour. Every year
hunters, foresters, firemen, chimney sweepers, border guards, the army, the police, young people and devotees of Our Lady gather here every year to make their trilingual pilgrimage. On the first Sunday of June, a trilingual hunting mass and pilgrimage will be held in Hungarian, Croatian and German. This is how this place became a trilingual pilgrimage site. On 8 September, on the day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (the vernacular name for the Virgin Mary), local horsemen, horsemen, horse riders and archers are invited to a pilgrimage (bilingual) mass, in order to create a tradition.

Period: 1st Sunday of every month from June to September
