Point of interest- Mosonszentmiklós - Church of St. Nicholas

The church and its two chapels are like a mother with her two children. The Chapel of the Holy Cross was built in the 16th century, the Chapel of the Heroes in 1929. The church was built between 1770 and 1775 by Bishop Ferenc Zichy.

The tower is 47 metres high and the interior is unusually spacious. Behind the high altar there is an oil painting of St Nicholas and four gilded wooden statues (St Peter, St Paul, St Augustine, St Martin). The side altars of St Francis and the Holy Family are located in the curve of the triumphal arch. The baptismal font, circa 1780, stands on a red marble pedestal, topped by a statue of Jesus being baptised. The church was completely restored between 1973 and 1975 by József Samodai, a native of the village, who replaced the ruined frescoes with two separate ones (one showing the changing colours of Our Lord and the other the Virgin of the Hungarians, the saints of the Árpád House). One of the church's relics is the bone chalice of Bishop Nicholas.
