The village is mentioned in 1432 as Dobra, later Dobraföldi, Dobraföld, Dobrafölde. The name probably refers to the fact that in the 13th century the area of the settlement belonged to the castle of Vasdobra (now Neuhaus am Klausenbach). The name of the village was changed to Magyarföld in 1898. The old name is now known and used only by older people living in the area. Magyarföld had 31 inhabitants in 2010.
