Point of interest- Minster, Church of St Andrew (Minerals)

The parish church of St. Andrew in Mineralráró is a monument in the Ásványráró Ásvány village of Győr-Moson-Sopron county.
It has a rectangular tower with two aisles and a floor area of 136 square metres. It is eclectic in style, the result of an extension in 1904. The outstanding feature of the church, built in the 14th century, is its red marble baptismal font from 1430. Today the church still bears the name of St Andrew the Apostle, as it did after its medieval consecration.

According to the Hungarian Catholic lexicon, it was built before 1332, as it was already standing in 1332, and was dedicated to St Andrew the Apostle. However, other sources, which refer to the papal tithe list, do not mention it. Since the papal tithe registers are incomplete, it is indeed possible that it was built before 1332. The church is also mentioned in 1342, 1380 and 1398. The church was probably built by the Hédervár family. Since St. Andrew the Apostle is the patron saint of fishermen, and most of the population of Mineral were fishermen, it is assumed that the church was named after this saint.
