The one-nave Gothic church of Martins was built at the end of the 14th century. Its frescoes were painted by Johannes Aquila from Regede (Radkersburg). The figure of St Martin appears in several frescoes in the sanctuary (Martin sharing his cloak, Martin bringing to life the soldiers for Christ, St Martin's death). The church was used by evangelicals in the 17th century. In the early 1700s, the building underwent minor alterations, replacing the original flat ceiling with a baroque vaulted ceiling with drawers. The Baroque altar was demolished at the beginning of the 20th century, and the present altar and the statue of St. Martin are the work of Jože Plečnik, dating from 1925. Of particular note are the medieval graffiti, which have damaged the frescoes in the sanctuary but are now a historical monument
