Stop point - Donji Martijanec

Martijanec's first church, dedicated to St Martin, was built in the 13th century. The present late Baroque church dates from 1767. It was built by the Patachich family, who owned the area. The former castle of the family still stands in the village. The church is characterised by its illusionistic interior mural painting, which enhances the effect of space. The altar is the work of Anton Lerchinger (1720-1792). In addition to the figures of St. Martin, St. Peter and St. Paul, the retable also depicts St. Stephen and St. Lazarus
