The construction of the church began in April 1784, based on the plans of the master mason Jakab Neumayer, and the consecration took place on 27 November 1785.
The church is rectangular in plan, 29.5 x 21.8 metres in overall dimensions, with the main parapet rising 10.5 metres above the ground level of the surrounding courtyard. The mass of the church consists of a single brick body, crowned by a steeply pitched high roof with a hipped roof on both sides. The interior of the church has three naves, six bays and a hall-ceilinged floor plan, with two tiers of pillars. The central nave, covered with a mirrored vault, is very wide (9.6 metres) and slightly higher than the two side naves.
