The first secondary school in Moson county was opened here in 1739. Until the nationalisation of the school (1948), the youth of the town and the surrounding area were taught by Piarist Fathers.
After a forced break of four decades, from 1994, education is once again under the guidance of the Order of Mercy. The chapel was dedicated to St Joseph of Kalazanci, the founder of the Order. In the altarpiece, an angel and the founder of the order are at work alongside the children. The painting is a reference to the motto of the Piarists: 'the service of teachers to children is the work of an angel'.
