Stop point - Rábapordány

St Andrew's Church was built in 1867 and extended in 1912. The ceiling paintings were made by József Samodai.

A record from 1469 in the National Archives mentions the parish priest of Rábapordány. This means that in the time of King Matthias there was a church in our village. According to later records, the church stood in the centre of the village, surrounded by the cemetery. In the parish records of 1859, it is written: "The Holy Church (church) of Rába Pordányi is built of brick and covered with wooden shingles. It should be noted that the Holy Church is an old dilapidated building, and is also low, short, very narrow and thus far from being sufficient to accommodate the number of worshippers, which is why a new and much larger Holy Church built from the ground up would be very desirable and necessary." This wish was granted in 1876 with the building of the new church.
