Point of interest - Mecsér - Parish Church of Our Lady of Hungary

On the site of the old church, built in 1679 and later demolished, the Roman Catholic church, built in 1900 by Countess Krisztina Weinckheim, is celebrated on 8 October.

Above the main entrance of the church is the coat of arms of the Wenckheim family, with nine pearl crowns of the Counts. In 1915, István Csaplár and his wife Klára Kollár brought the 14 statues inside the church from Italy to the village as a token of gratitude for their 50th wedding anniversary. The pictures, which are unique in the area, were brought by boat to Győr, from where the inhabitants of Mecsér, wrapped in straw, transported them piece by piece by horse-drawn cart to the site.

The wooden altar is unique. The lead crystal chandelier is a gift of György Borbély and his family, the other one is opal and was made by Dániel Hujber. The frescoes were painted by József Samodai, a painter from Mosonszentmiklós between 1969 and 1971. The framed oil painting "Jesus on the Cross", nearly 2 metres long, is presumably from the previous church, built in 1679. The confessional was made by local master carpenters Rudolf Fehér and József Fehér in 2000 for the millennium.
