The footprint of Saint Martin in Kunszentmárton

"A dear child of Szombathely, a remake of the Hungarian nation ...

On the afternoon of 12 November, this song marked the beginning of a small celebration in Kunszentmárton to mark the laying of Martin's bronze footprint. The composer of the song, János Nepomuk Mezey, was the cantor of the Catholic community of the village between 1850 and 1861. In 2016, the General Assembly of the St. Martin's European Cultural Route decided that the St. Martin's Pilgrimage Route in the Alföld, from Kunszentmárton to Tiszapüspöki, would also be part of the Great European Route. The footprint, which is one of the symbols of the route, marks the starting point of the Lowland section.
