Stop point - Gyöngyösfalu

Gyöngyösfalu was created by the merger of four previously independent settlements, Kispöse, Nagypöse, Ludad and Seregélyháza. In the Middle Ages, Pose had a church dedicated to St. Martin. The present church was built in 1905 after the old one was demolished. It was designed by Ludwig Schöne (1845 - 1935), who built several churches in the area (SZombathely, Cák, Kőszeg). The new neo-Gothic church was built on the exact site of the old one, and thus the boundary between the two villages was here until 1928, when Kispöse and Nagypöse were united. József Wallner, who was the parish priest of the church at the time of its construction, recalls the unique situation:

.... "I had to draw the axis line of the new church in the east-facing framed windows of the sanctuary of the old church, so that the centre line of the new church ..... The new church of St. Bishop Martin the Confessor was to be built on the site of the old one, between the administrative property of the villages of Little and Great Pisces, facing west, so that the east-facing central painted altar window of the sanctuary, depicting Bishop Martin, would be the axis line of the new church. This created the unique situation that at every Mass, the epistle was said in Great Posa, the Gospel in Little Posa. "

The figure of Saint Martin can be seen both on the altarpiece and in the stained glass windows. Some of the stone carvings of this old church can also be found in the new church.
