Stop point- Tótszentmárton

The village of Tótszentmárton was first mentioned in 1321 in a charter as "Sanctus Martinus". The name suggests that it was already a church at that time, although the first concrete record of the church dates back to 1374. The village was first mentioned in 1471 as 'Zenthmarton'. The old settlement was destroyed together with the church. After 1696, Croatian settlers from beyond the Mura arrived in the village and have preserved their language and customs to this day. The church, damaged during the Turkish occupation, was repaired by the parishioners in the early 1700s. The church was completely rebuilt in the last decades of the 18th century, when it took its present form. The present altarpiece was painted by Gyula Károlyi in 1949.
